having insurance follow you when you leave job. Most republicans support insurance reforms just not as radical as what the dems are putting out there. They don't see the insurance companies as the enemy. Also as mentioned they support tort reform, which the dems oppose because it would hurt trial lawyers.
They don't have complete agreed up on plan but then again neither did the dems until they spent most of the year hashing one out. They still don’t have one they can agree on. Minority parties don't typically put forward complete pieces of legislation.

otherwise why construct a bill which subsidizes the insurance industry as well as making it mandatory that everyone buy private insurance?
As mook pointed out recently, the chief obstacle to the Senate bill was a Senator who's private insurances best friend, and he single handedly prevented its passage until almost everything that didn't directly benefit that industry was removed. Think about it: Taxes will go up, but so will the debt, so it's not like Uncle Sam is keeping that additional tax revenue; where do you THINK it's going to go...?
Whether from missing integrity or ability, this bill manages to make a bad situation worse, making it a policy SO bad I'm about willing to say, "let the GOP have the seat for two years" just so they'll have to start over from scratch and the Dems will (maybe) learn a valuable lesson about not monkeying with election laws every other week just because you think it'll give you an unfair advantage.
