As Cheat Sheet was raised as an objection, so it clearly was
Isaac Send a noteboard - 08/02/2010 06:16:57 AM
it's how incredibly obvious it was and how enormously unsubtle she was about using it. And how childish. How is it professional to write your notes on your HANDS? Note cards are a million times more appropriate and acceptable. Not to mention that if she had written what Isaac said she did, I do not understand why she had to stare at her hand so long and blatantly.
You don't like her, the people at DailyKos absolutely despise her, anything she does that you don't consider normal is stupid, justify that however you want, but that's what it is. And I did not say she wrote that, the link you gave us includes multiple zoom ins clearly showing it. Try this one though, most of us stare at our notes for longer than it takes to read them, because you tend to keep looking at the object of stimuli while you ponder it. Or do you think she is borderline illiterate too? Maybe someone wrote it on her hand for her? She was probably reading it to remind herself what she wanted to cover and was thinking about how to insert it into the current conversation or how to shift things to it. Most people when pondering things tend to have a bit of a blank or glazed eye thing or such going on, not the best time to stare into the camera or at the other person. Traditionally, and yes this is very common, the note goes on your left palm because you shake with your right hand, and you can lift the left up to cup your chin, glancing at the note as you raise the hand then 'contemplating' your answer with hand on chin, cupped, or thumb and forefinger, stroking beard, etc... this works very well for men, less so for women.
It's not that she had notes. It's HOW she had notes. Just carry a couple note cards. Like everyone else has pointed out, all the other politicians do it. They certainly don't write it on their hands like a middle school kid. Or if they do, they're obviously a lot more subtle about it.
People would have ragged on her for shuffling through her note cards too, she didn't have a podium, she was sitting exposed in a chair, about the only way to have notes in a case like that is to have a clipboard and lots of people would object to that too. You can do that maybe a few times before people start noting you do that a lot, and she is a public speaker. If she showed up to every interview format like that holding a hand full of notecards, people would jeer her stupidity.
The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift.
