No problem with her wanting to have a note on her talking points to hand - it is very sensible to have something as a prompt to keep on track and as a reminder in what order she is talking through her main points so she can use her planned links between them.
It is unprofessional that she turned up at a major event she had agreed to speak at months in advance for a cause she believes in and has accepted a substantiol sum of money for talking at and doesn't seem to have planned ahead enough to have her talking points on a card so had to use her hand. Of course, to be fair, it could be an aide had lost the card with them on and so Palin was forced to write them on her hand just before going out.
