and it doesn't sound to me like the Muslim community was pressuring these stores into this change. The businesses just did it on their own to make more money. Since when is this catastrophically horrible?
Somehow, I seriously doubt the equivalent to McDonalds is the only source of food (or even fast food) in the whole area of these eight restaurants.
And this is not the PUBLIC sphere in the slightest. This is a private organization. Making a business decision to appeal to a minority consumer base. Why are you people not comprehending that it is only 8 privately-owned restaurants in the whole of france. It's not like this is some cultural revolution. It's business. If the French want non-halal fast food, they can go to a different restaurant.
And it's not like halal foods are going to magically taste differently from usual foods.
