The company merely saw the profits and chose to see if they could acquire a portion of it. They even "began [their] experiment in towns with large Muslim populations last November."
So they're selling their goods to the market that will buy them. Le gasp!!

not to mention: "All the burgers in the restaurants come from halal beef, it admitted. Bacon had been replaced by turkey. But non-halal products – from fish to cheese to beer – are still available."

Oh yes, those poor french people. They're having such horrid dietary changes foisted upon them. I mean, their beef that tastes exactly the same as before was slaughtered facing mecca! With a KNIFE!! whatever shall they do. and oh turkey bacon don't get me started on the horrors of turkey bacon.

Much ado about nothing.
