According to the Süddeutsche Zeitung... Legolas Send a noteboard - 03/03/2010 03:38:13 PM
They thought that "German education in the last ten, twenty years has moved further and further away from Christian values", and that "German state schools don't offer value-neutral education but discourage traditional Christian values such as love for one's neighbour, trust, reliability, hard work, willingness to help and respect". Still according to that source, the final drop was a book containing "obscene words referring to sexual intercourse" (unfortunately it doesn't say anywhere how old the children are or which year this book was taught in, that I've seen).

And the advocates of home-schooling will be pleased to know that one of the articles below quotes the spokesman of a German organization for "freedom of education", who expresses the hope that this scandal will lead to home-schooling becoming legal in Germany.

The mayor of the town is also quoted, who confirms that the police brought the children to school once in 2006, but denies that taking the children away is a possibility, because "then the welfare of the children would have to be endangered, which is not the case here".
