It isn't enough to simply say I don't like the laws you have to show that you are in some way endangered by the law and were facing personal persecution. The recent law that allows the state to remove children from parents who home school and the states actions against these parents does show justifiable cause for concern. There may be some question about how likely it was that the state would take the kids but they have already sent police officers to their house to forcibly make the children attend school so this was no academic argument. With the court ruling only three years old I see no reason why should believe that they would not take the children.

You are free to argue that not being allowed to own a gun is the same as not being allowed to raise your children in the manner you chose and being threatened with losing them if you don't comply but I think you would lose.

As for the argument that is going to cause a flood of people seeking asylum I think that is the same argument we heard with genital mutilation and we have seen the flood you are predicting even though it the threat is greater and more people would be eligible.
