If I didn't believe everyone was redeemable (though no one is automatically redeemed) it'd be past time to pick a new religion.
And I still believe things like this, and addressing them, tests whether ones faith (assuming one has a faith) is sincere or just a fashion statement. Ultimately, as odd as it may sound, I think Christianity REQUIRES critical thinking skills to be meaningful; one must make a committed choice, and that's not possible without an understanding of what "commitment" and "choice" are.
