-And, related to that, radio stations with lots of content.
Basically, anything that's going to be seen a lot, or looped a lot, needs to be really long. Freaking Fallout 3 had only a couple of radio stations, with like 5, 10 minutes of content, tops.
-Awesome music, especially music that adjusts to the game. (In horror games, the musical sting needs to come AT OR AFTER the scary event. It's no use being creeped out by a dark hallway if I know a demon is coming in 5 seconds because of the music) (Left 4 dead is an exception, they manage to pull it off)
-Balance. I should never be going "Oh, this is the best car/gun/horse/move in the game, so I'll just use it constantly and endlessly"
Spiderman 2 is an amazing game, with the best swinging mechanics I've ever seen. It also comes with dozens of fighting moves. However, you only need one or two to actually win anything.
