View original postMoralizing, judgemental attitudes come naturally to me. I'm a Gryffindor through and through. But Hufflepuff is a lovely house and had the protagonist of the only good Harry Potter film, so I'm not insulted by the insinuation.
I have to say, while I'm still not sure how much people who haven't read the books would get out of them, the later movies like Half-Blood Prince weren't nearly as bad as I remembered them. And it reconfirmed my recollection of the Prisoner of Azkaban and Deathly Hallows Part One movies as actually very good (in both cases, Emma Watson is a good part of the reason why, but there's much more to it).
But yeah, Fantastic Beasts was also very nice, and helped I'm sure by not having to live up to a book with a depth that a movie will never match anyway.
What the hell is with people's fondness for Slytherin?

I think it's more because people are rejecting facile black-and-white depictions of the world.

I can't help but think a children's series is the wrong venue for this sort of protest.
