Seems moondog is far from the only leftist who use "casual homophobia" to attack Trump and other Republicans. It's common enough for the usually execrable HuffPost to write an article about it.

Casual homophobia is a typically contrived phrase for a perfectly good existing word: hypocrisy.


Sigh I foresee 7 days of homosexual prison jokes in the near future in media adjacent places. That is because of the Cohen and Manafort thing, and somehow prison rape is "part of how we see punishment" and thus prison rape jokes and so on.

This thing is vile for several reasons.
1) Even if you are the most vile person on earth you should still have body autonomy and rape is at its core a violation of the autonomy.
2) It is a form of homophobia not just about power structures but also homophobia against consensual gay sex even though rape is definition not consensual.
3) Prison rape is a serious thing for it is arbitrary and it is a real problem in prison. Yet if we joke around about it being part of our culture of punishment then no one is going to take the steps necessary to lower the occurrence of prison rape occurring in prison. (Yes there are things that can be done.)

So yeah I am dreading the next 7 days for while I will not think about it, I know I am going to see it somewhere in a media adjacent commentary.
