that made me think.
There is the philosophical idea out there that it is better to let 10 guilty persons go free than for one innocent person to be jailed.
Now with that in mind, there is the #MeToo mindset where an individual is supposed to be believed 100% of the time before anything is looked into.
So on one hand, we have the conviction and incarceration of an innocent is such anathema, that we would rather have 10 guilty go free, but then we have conviction in the public court of opinion and the real-life tangible consequences of it (even decades later)...and there is no compunction that it could destroy/damage an innocent.
