which is that almost literally every criticism of stupid or out of line comments from the Democratic side, however justified it may be in a vacuum, can be instantly countered with 'but look at Trump', since he has invariably done something worse or said something stupider. Quite frequently on the same day, or at most in the same week. And, you know, he's the president. He should be probably be held to at least the same standards as a freshwoman member of Congress.
In this particular case, and the reason I'm pointing it out now, his infamous letter to Pelosi that was in the news today. When your president is sending letters like that, it really puts everything else into perspective...
And to be clear, I'm not writing that to defend AOC or those other stupid/bad things from the Democratic side. It's not a good thing when their blunders or unacceptable comments are ignored or instantly forgiven by the left, with the reasoning that Trump has always done so much worse so why would they criticize their own if the Republicans failed to do so with Trump. But it is pretty inevitable. While I understand and to some extent even sympathize with Republican office holders or pundits who find themselves forced to be extremely selective and cautious about uttering any criticism of Trump, since it can mean instant ruin for their career or at least prevent them from getting anything done anymore, that does come at the cost of them losing all credibility when they criticize Democrats for, inevitably, lesser offences or blunders. Which is one of the many ways in which Trump is destroying the Republican party - and sure, damaging the Democratic one as well.
