What's wrong with Abortion? How is it different from, say, vaccinations? Cannoli Send a noteboard - 19/12/2019 05:07:38 AM

But some things are beyond the pale, such as suggesting Abortion,

If you can suggest or even mandate one type of medical treatment, such as vaccinations, abortion is only an issue of decree. What does that have to do with jokes about taking kids, anyway?
or seizing somes kids from them.

Something most of your ideological ilk has no problems with, if they disapprove of the parents' religion or attitude regarding medical privacy.
Likewise though if we are ridiculing AOC stupidity, we should also be doing the same things that are her equivalent on her other side like Crenshaw.
No one is holding Crenshaw up as a spokesman or exemplar for anything. Crenshaw is not held to be the personification of a current political movement. Crenshaw is not perceived as having undue influence on the elected official two heartbeats from the Presidency, or the policies of one of the two relevant political parties in the country.
And there is also things we need to be ridiculing and shaming that is far worse than AOC and Crenshaw and that is the vile stuff like Steve King.

There are different types of ridicule, but let's not use the "jest" tactics that authoritarian administrations do to silence political dissidents. Lets not use the ones that hey you are gay and in some states merely being gay informally means many (not all judges, not even the majority of judges) will not award joint custody to the gay parent when two parents divorce.

You don't have to identify as gay, or act on those inclinations, if you prioritize a relationship with your children over sexual gratification. OTOH, no one has a choice about having a Y chromosome, and that is a far bigger handicap in a lot more child custody cases.
Lets not use the "jest" comments that people in the US use not because they actually believe child abuse is occurring but they do sometimes use as threats to coerce people.

Let's not use our own private terms for concepts and ideas to obfuscate positions on issues or else to lure people into a struggle to establish the meaning of terminology, instead of the issues in question.
Of course this is a very small majority of people that do this, but anyone who has any experience with adoption, foster care, and so on has heard stories of this happening. Even if most people are oblivious to this, it is such an unfunny thing to make a stupid jest about.

I have and I don't give a shit. I've dealt with death and make jokes about that. It's familiarity with a subject that gives people the ease to laugh at it, while it's the remote and ineffable that they hold in awe. Unless they are trying to suppress self-expression to backdoor their own ideology into peoples' heads. If you want to dictate the moral rules, you have to get people to sign up for your morality, or operate under a long-standing and widely agreed-upon moral code. Otherwise, the appropriate response to this sort of pearl clutching is "Don't listen if you don't like it."
It reveals something about Tom's character, either he is oblivious, or he is monstrous. He is not thinking before talking, or it is pure vile profane shit.

What is vile is creating this nonsensical smokescreen by pretending this is some sort of sacrosanct thing. The left has been the enemy of any conventional family relationship for generations now, while pretending to defend the family by elevating nonsensical relationship combinations to that dignity. And now you're trying to make "separating children from parents" into some sort of lowest-of-low transgression. Where was this abhorrence of offspring alienation a few years ago when I posted an article about a family coming to the US to seek asylum from that very thing in Germany? But in the absence of any wrongdoing that the general public would actually care about, you're suddenly pretending this is a concern dear to your hearts, because to the average uninformed man on the street, "separating children from their parents" sounds a lot worse than "well of course, people arrested in the commission of a crime don't take their children to jail with them."

Your using the innocent as political fodder when it is convenient and otherwise behaving in exactly the opposite manner, as with your reference to abortion and hypocritical acknowledgement that a fetus is a human life, even as you support politicians and political movements that profit off the wholesale slaughter of the same, is far more vile than Tom's jokes.
