I would never support Sanders over Trump. I can definitely see that there are parallels in the world/US right now to the Weimar period where the extremes on both left and right are gaining support due to a number of factors. And I consider myself a centrist. As such, who do I think is closer to the center in the US? That would be Trump over Sanders.
I don't think this is the rhetorical win you think it is.
Also, Trump is more of a fascist than Sanders is a leftist. Which is unfortunate on many levels. I'd love to see a real socialist running--one who would advocate for the redistribution of the means of production to workers. But Sanders is a good social democrat, and he'll continue to raise class consciousness in a good way.
I consider myself to be firmly in the center and someone who knows I need to work with both the center-right and the center-left. And I must work against the extreme right and the extreme left. I don't support your views on economics. I don't support your coded Communist language. I don't support class warfare.
If I thought Sanders would actually address why health care costs so much or why universities charge so much I could be more interested in his views. But all I see is a power grab to create big government. If its Sanders vs. Trump in November then it will be a repeat of Corbyn vs. Johnson. Though I don't think the DNC will let it come to that and it will be Biden vs. Trump in 2020 and Biden could very well win. Or Trump could win.
As long as it's not Sanders. Never Sanders.
