My point is that the movies focus on a specific period of upheaval. OM THE WHOLE, it is the Jedi who have power in the galaxy, not the Sith. The Empire occupies a minute period of time in the history of the Republic.
Well, if you take into account EU events, the sith do a whole lot of damage. Granted we have one period of upheaval in the original six movies, it is still something like 30 or 40 years of tyranny. Something worth noting.
Plus, I don't think the OP was referring to actual rule but more like combat skills and such.
You must unlearn what you have learned.
