Arrested Development. And it is, quite seriously, the funniest television show I have seen in my life. The actors are all great, the characters are all uniquely disfunctional, and it's really freaking funny. Plus, there are lots of foreshadowing and callbacks, so its perfect for what you'd be doing, watching them online or DVD.
I actually watched quite a bit of it while I was in Haiti in January. It was pretty funny, but not something I'd sit around and watch if there's much else to see.
30 Rock is consistently funny.
The first couple seasons of How I Met Your Mother were, quite frankly, hysterical. The series drops in quality a lot from season 3 on, IMO (not from any mega-event, they just seemed to forget how to write the characters), but the first two seasons were excellent. If you want to be convinced, just watch episode... 8, I think. "Slap Bet." Awesome.
Finally, you seem to like the geeky stuff (as do most of us on this site, heh), you might get a kick out of Big Bang Theory. Quite frankly, some of it is pretty terrible- that whole "ha ha, look at the nerds, they don't even know who Justin Timerlake is" thing- but there are a lot of episodes where the jokes are really good, and are about geeky things, instead of at the expense of them. For example, Wil Wheaton keeps making cameo appearances as an evil mastermind.
(If you do decide to watch BBT, I'd suggest skipping Season 1 entirely. That's what I did, and I get the impression I didn't miss much)
I watched an episode about a girl that starts playing WoW. Hated it. It wasn't funny. I never even cracked a smile.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.

FWIW, Angel is a much better character on his own show than he was on Buffy. *NM*

I never liked him because he was a vampire sleeping with the Slayer.
