nor Dollhouse, I can't comment on those. The fan thing, yeah, as the author says, it's that way with all people who have a cult following - writers, TV/movie makers, and still others. The other two points... he does often kill beloved characters, but then in shows with bodycounts as high as his, it'd be lame if nobody important ever died, too. Though yeah, there are a few that are very hard to swallow - Wash in Serenity, and Tara in Buffy in the first and only episode where she gets a mention in the main credits (I mean, seriously).

The feminism thing, hm. I do think his reputation of being "feminist" is somewhat overrated, but that doesn't mean his female characters are weak or uninteresting - he does have many excellent female roles, and yes, some subversion of gender roles that I suppose could be considered feminist. Ending of Buffy season two comes to mind - she may pine for him, but she still kills him because that's what it takes. The mere fact that characters like Buffy or Zoe can also be sensitive and even on occasion homely doesn't make them weak or anti-feminist. The thing about magical powers being required to make a woman strong is a fair point in Buffy's case, but then it's kind of inevitable to have some extraordinary factor that allows your slender heroine to be stronger and a better fighter than men thrice her size.
