And if you drove up to the McDonald's, and the girl started spouting at you about her thoughts on animal rights or Scientology or gay marriage? How would you feel then? That maybe its just not worth the effort to even listen to her rants about whatever...because after all, there are good burgers & fries in other places.


If she shouted her views at me while I ate the burger, then I could see your point. In this increasingly-stretched analogy, that's like listening to a song about abortion/politics/whatever.

My point was that something like Tom Cruise's movies, or Dixie Chicks "Goodbye Earl," don't contain their politics, and thus can be enjoyed on their own.

The only way I'd even know about an actor's politics is if I made a conscious effort to go read about them, and I just don't care enough to bother. Like, Sean Penn is liberal, I hear. I know nothing more specific than that, nor do I care to. Mystic River was great, though...
