Physically, this place was no closer to the Bore than any other in the world.


I'm not going to bother reading every post here, but it looks to me like the above is exactly opposite of what you're trying to prove.

The bore isn't in any one spot, or "gateway" as you call it. There is a thinness in one spot. The only reason he can sense the bore there is because that's where it's thin. Not because that's where the bore is located.
