I see it entirely likely that Shadar Haran arrived and the house, felt some weaving, went to the room and uncovered the a'dam.

If he snooped around everything in every Aes Sedais room where he felt a weave he'd have been there for months. ;)

No, probably not; for one thing, I don't think Elza knew where the adam was, and since I don't think SH got it himself that would mean someone retreived it for him, either by his order or because they already had it when he arrived on the scene.
