I am kind of surprised that I haven't seen this mentioned before. The first time I read Semirhage's last words in tGS which went something like 'Great Lord, why have you betrayed me?'. It immediately reminded me of a Semirhage PoV in LoC (Threads woven of shadow.)

"She had never been more than an indifferent tcheran player, but Shaidar Haran was a new piece on the board, one of unknown strength and purpose. And one daring way to capture your opponent's High Counselor and turn it to your side was to sacrifice you Spires in a false attack. She would kneel if need be, for as long as need be, but she would not be sacrificed."

I know it isn't the longest setup or foreshadowing in the series. The prologue of tEotW setup the last chapter in tGS for instance. But to me this is one of the most satisfying and impressive foreshadowing in the series.
