Rand seemed pretty Jesus-like, basically creating food for his followers. As often said, there is obviously something unique about Rand/the Dragon, which makes clear that only he will face the DO in the Pit of Doom (not a Rand & Egwene-combo, for example). I think this makes it also more likely that Rand's blood might literally play an important, more spiritual part to defeat the DO, as the Prophecies suggest.
