I never considered this before, but maybe the whole "The Land is one with the Dragon" could effect Rand himself. Maybe the darker he got, the more sick he felt while channeling. Just an idea. I always assumed it was caused by his balefire crossing paths with Moridin's.
I do think that the link with Moridin is responsible for the sickness. There are just too many cases where the sickness is accompanied with images/feelings of Moridins. Not to mention the vision Rand had where Moridin was feeling the same thing when Rand channeled. So I think the link is indeed the primary cause.
However, it also seems to me that the more Rand fell into darkness, the worse the sickness. It occurred to me that this might be somekind of mental struggle between Rand and Moridin. As Rand became darker and grew mentally weaker and more like Moridin, the sickness caused by the link grew worse. Maybe because Rand's mental state was beginning to match Moridins.
Rand experienced the worst channeling-sickness ever when he was about to commit mass murder of a civilian population with the Choedan Kal, an utterly evil act and something Moridin could well have done. There could be a correlation. So basically I figure that the sickness is still there, but now that Rand has improved mentally and separated himself from Moridin, the symptoms might have lessened. Basically he might now suffer symptoms like he did in the beginning such as mild dizziness and the like, rather than the overwhelming nausea he felt at his worst.
And if nothing else, his new light-aura is capable of healing people and revitalizing plants and living things. Even if the sickness is totally unrelated, it is still possible that it could soothe the symptoms. A painkiller of sorts. Moridin has the True Power to help him with the link, it is only fair that Rand gets something too.

Rand could just go there in a disguise, and ask to see the Amyrlin. It's usually only women that are allowed personal audiences with the Amyrlin though, so I'm not sure. Either way, I don't think he'll be there long enough to be in danger.
That is assuming that the AS are not checking for male channelers. They have that weave of theirs now which detects saidin, and Rand knows of it. One would expect that in a world with male forsaken and Asha'man, they would check for disguises by looking for saidin weaves. Especially around those that want to see their new Amyrlin.
Ofcourse Rand could just travel into the tower. The AS don't know how to block traveling so they could not prevent it. I wonder however if stepping out of Egwenes closet would be the best way to start a meeting with her. I think it far more likely that Egwene would demand a full meeting with all the sitters present.
The bottom line is however that the AS have wanted to, if not control Rand, then atleast have him under their "guidance". And thats true of Egwene too. If Rand does meet with the entire hall for instance, how likely is it that they would allow him to just walk out, rather than "inviting" him to stay in the tower as a "guest" until the last battle. Rand blew up the Choedan Kal and his own strength could not stand against a full circle. If the AS want to hold him there, he would be helpless to resist.
Egwene specificly says he must be allowed to run free in order to fulfill prophecy. To say that he would be held against his will at this point is absurd. I'm sure she'll have a lot to say though and she'll want to give him a new adviser or something like that.
When the Wolf King carries the hammer, thus are the final days known. When the fox marries the raven, and the trumpets of battle are blown.
