I may be wrong on this, but I thought that the biggest problem with the gholam going through the gateway is that the gholam acts like Mat's medallion and stops the weaves. In this case, it shouldn't be able to go through any kind of gateway but rather destroy the weave for the gateway upon touching it.


The gateway itself is not a weave but a hole in the space. Gholam wasn't touching the weave at all. The same way, Mat wasn't touching gateways when he was travelling through it with Rand in earlier books.
