Avienda's viewing and the Fields of Merrilor (spoilers) saidarisnowtainted Send a noteboard - 28/12/2010 06:21:05 PM
Avienda's viewing shows that Rand creates the "pact of the dragon" or something to that effect between the world nations, except for the Aiel. It appears that this is a global peace treaty that Rand demands as consideration for his sacrifice to save the world. The time peace falls apart and the Seanchan conquer the world. The Seanchan's aggression appears to be caused by Aiel aggression and manipulation of other pact bound nations to attack the Seanchan, which the Seanchan in turn see as a breach of the pact and then use as an excuse to commence their conquest.

Rand indicates that he intended Egwene to call the nations of the world to the fields of Merrilor because he was going to ask something of them that they could not refuse of him.

I think it's clear that this is where Rand will forge this peace treaty.

Now, it's all very interesting but i have some issues.

firstly, Avienda's vision shows me a future which i dislike on several levels. It almost makes me feel less interested in Rand winning the last battle and less interested in what happens in the last book.

the only way i can see anything changing for the future would be if Avienda could be present at the time the pact is entered. Could the timing work? She is the only person who would put two and two together and maybe help avoid this bleak future.

And yet, the only places of relative peace and shelter right now are Seanchan controlled lands. - 29/12/2010 03:21:37 AM 1911 Views

They are pretty close to evil. Slavery being the big thing, but the crushing social scale is far - 31/12/2010 06:45:59 PM 1481 Views
The Aiel sold slaves to Shara, does that make them evil? No society in Randland is without flaws. - 07/01/2011 05:10:32 AM 1863 Views
