The Pattern certainly has some plan or purpose for the Seanchan.

Whether that involves taking over Randland, who knows? Personally, I find the Seanchan really fascinating - Jordan did an amazing job in creating all the cultures in this series.
The Seanchan are an enigma, being at the same time a system who's unforgiving and has slavery toward Channelers - Yet also allows free trade, regional autonomy and enforces law without favoritism. The fact we see in the books given the peasants/serfs, commoners and even tinkers embracing the peace and stability that the Seanchan rule provides. They also seem quite feminist, with equal opportunities in career to both men and women (even in the military).
If they do take over Randland, I wouldn't be surprise if there's some type of reform - over time - in Seanchan society in regards to channelers.

I would be mostly okay with it if they abolished slavery first

Yes. That is a flaw of Seanchan governance.

It's not the Empire's fault, and that flaw is not being duplicated in the wetlands
