I think Rand's epiphany made him realize that saving the world is meaningless if it isn't able to build itself back after the LB. That was the reason he needed his epiphany! Before, he thought the LB was all that mattered, and what happened after wasn't his issue. Now he knows different, and feels different.

What else do you think his "terms" for going to SG are going to be about? He expects opposition from the rulers, because he's going to ask them to do something onerous. A treaty with the Seanchan may be a part of it, but not all. And right there, you can see that Rand has plans for the future. For one, a temporary peace with the Seanchan till the LB will barely get any opposition. That he expects some shows that he has plans for them into the post-LB future.


Or really cares all that much about which rulers take control of what land etc... He wants peace to come out of the LB and there is no way he can dictate who rules and expect peace to follow. We see the result of that ... In just a handful of generations the Seanchan conquer the world.
