Birgitte says she's not a soldier or general, but I think that's mostly because she never set out to try to be either. She just did what she had to. Same as Mat.


It sort of goes under that whole "I don't follow orders. I'm an adventurer! What? Your plan is going to get people killed! Listen, do this..." type of personality.

Unfortunately for Mat, it is most likely due to his memories, and less of a personality trait.
