Re: Aes Sedai - question for the WoT experts..... LewsTherin10 Send a noteboard - 17/11/2009 02:36:33 PM
I'm half way through tGS and something popped into my mind.....what is the point of the Aes Sedai? Are they comic relief? Are they just filler?

Have the Aes Sedai contributed anything major to the storyline? Have they discovered any knowledge about the Last Battle to help Rand? Have they helped with any of the conflicts among nations/factions to help bring order to Randland prior to the Last Battle? Have they even captured or killed a Forsaken? They just keep fighting among themselves.....what's the point!

Thoughts?

Aes Sedai and the White Tower are a very powerful organization with influence all over Randland. I don't see how you could minimize their part in the series. They are essential to Tarmon Gaidon considering they channel the One Power not to mention that the Green Ajah's whole purpose is to fight at the Last Battle.

The simple fact of being an organization of channelers makes them highly important to Rand and the world if not only to counter the dreadlords. They have fought alongside Rand against the Seanchan, helped Perrin save Two Rivers and contributed to saving Rand from his captivity. That's just to name a few.
