The Black Tower IMO is Moridin's baby - it's covered in his colours of black and red, which is more than a hint.
I also agree with Etzel that it was Aran'gar who commanded the Ash'aman, and probably commanded Slayer to kill Rand too. Cyndane probably appeared to Masema as the holy Dragon Reborn, but Demandred is a close second on my list.
