Long story short:

Guy named notch comes up with a game. He releases an alpha (early testing) version and tells people if they buy it they'll have access to all updates and all versions of the game when it's done. It becomes a huge success; during this time notch is releasing lots and lots of updates, on the order of one a week. Notch ends up making millions (literally) and founds a company.

Updates slow down. The company blog shows them playing with nerf guns. They go on vacation for a month. Updates are now few and far between.


You would not BELIEVE the uproar on the Internet about this game, and it's only been out a few years.

My point? At least we aren't on Play And Find Out. :P


Seriously, though, the resemblance between the two situations is uncanny, even down to the splitting of the fanbase. People hate waiting. :P
