Precisely. Treating something and being something are not equivalent.
Except when the "fevered" mind of Quijote is a featured attraction? The story works on several levels, reading it as a deranged man's fantasy and seeing that fantasy through his eyes is just one of them.
But on to more important matters: Ever read in Spanish? Much better there than in any English translations that I've read.
I've only read it in Spanish, actually. In its entirety, anyway.
