But the more people buying e-books, the less people buying real books. Obviously not a 1-to-1 relationship, but still. And even if it all ends up in the same publishing company, it doesn't end up in the pockets of the same retailers, and it effects which medium that publisher will emphasize in the future.

It's a bit of an oversimplification to think that a hit against the e-book industry is automatically a plus for traditional books, but the two are competing mediums.


Many people like myself will be quite happy to do away with paper books. I hate lugging them around, especially while traveling. In today's compact and on the go" world they are a waste of space. To seek the destruction of an emerging market because you are nostalgic toward traditional paper books is asinine.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...
