It is true, but it's also true that the additional hunger it generates tends to cause people to eat more, and not less. If someone is overweight, it's usually a result of overeating as well as not exercising. Throwing on weight training is a recipe for disaster.

he'll be mostly fine. Protein fills one up faster and keeps one full longer, whereas carbs create an insulin/blood sugar spike cycle that throws everything off. Trust me, I've done just about every combination out there. Some cardio and some weight training with carb control was by far the best (admittedly, that's for my body, which has roughly the same metabolism as a rock. Obviously others have had different results).
