This article is pretty short but there is an endless supply of others like it. The problems educated black women have finding acceptable spouses is well documented and hardly surprising. Blacks only make up around 13% of the population so a small number of white women being interested in dating black men has a huge impact. You can debate why more white men don't marry black women but that won’t change things. I believe people should be with whoever makes them happy but I don't think Aeryn is wrong to recognize how tough it is for black women. It is almost a perfect storm of trends that are breaking against educated black women. From the number of them receiving degrees versus black men to the incarceration rate of black men to the tendency of women to more concerned that their spouse is as educated as them and this list keeps going on. Being a college educated woman who want a family is hard.
