Not wearing one merely to assert your authority over your own person is peurile. Arguing the same point just for the hell of it is possibly much the same thing.

I've seen a man on a BSA get mown down by a Kenworth B-Double. His head popped like a watermelon and I thank him during every flashback for thumbing his nose at the establishment and eschewing a mandatory helmet. What a man! CIVIL RIGHTS FTW! I'm sure the three children waiting at the same intersection as myself have forgotten as well I have what the smell of civil freedom is like.
Of course, a helmet wouldn't have saved him but it would have kept his eyeballs from being spread across the road like peanut butter. The only reason he wasn't wearing a helmet? The same reason he apparently never wore a seat belt and sped through city streets at twice the posted limit. Because that's what tough, free people do.

Way to go to be a role model.
