A Turkish guy roomed with me for a few months when I was in college (land of beautiful people), and he was amazed at how many fat people there were.

I had the impression people were either fat or really gorgeous, not much in between.

Basically what it boils down to is that we do not put ugly or even plain people on TV and movie screens. Or do most German women look like Heidi Klum? :P

I am talking about my experience on Philadelphia streets, though, not TV ;)
