I've wondered: Nate Send a noteboard - 03/02/2012 09:55:14 PM
Social conservatism may be linked to lower IQ in some cases, but I think it's probably unfair to say that there is no merit to social conservatism as a result. I'm not a social conservative, but it doesn't mean they can't have compelling arguments.

Does it ever bother you that fiscal conservatives must have support from social conservatives in order to be elected, and therefore must cater in some measure to their desires? Fiscal conservatism has a lot more merit to me than social conservatism, but I find it difficult to support fiscal conservatives because, in North America at least, social conservatism always seems to come hand in hand because of how the politics work, and in most cases I do not support the general thrust of social conservative ideas. But I'm not a fiscal conservative at heart so I've wondered how that works from your perspective.
