Eh, I suspect the prevailing national narratives are going to vary some Larry Send a noteboard - 24/08/2012 02:01:52 PM
So, Armstrong has announced he won't fight the USDA's doping charges against him after failing in attempts to use the courts to block the USDA investigation.
Shame for the damage he has done to the sport of cycling and the careers he has damaged along the way to this point. I imagine the reason he isn't fighting the accusations is to try to cling to what he can of his reputation because he knows the weight of evidence against him is impossible to deny now.

Edit: Excellent article on is here -

Here in the US, it seems to be a mixed reaction, in part due to the nature/timing of this latest round, rounds that in the team sports never occur due to the collective bargaining agreements that touch upon drug screenings. The NL MVP last year, Ryan Braun, had his positive testosterone test overturned due to sampling handling issues and while a few snickered, he hasn't really been labeled with the "cheater" label like Giants OF Melky Cabrera has (well, he created a fake web page in an attempt to argue that the source for his positive test came from there).

The decade-long quest to nab Armstrong is a bit irregular in comparison to the other cases, so it's more like "huh? Oh, the guy with the yellow rubber bands from 7-8 years ago?" than some rectification of some great sporting scandal. Cycling is a joke sport here in the US, maybe at the level of visibility of professional rodeo or even below that. That will color impressions here in the US to an extent.

As for my take on Armstrong...eh.
