Re: I really don't know anymore what to think on Armstrong. snoopcester Send a noteboard - 24/08/2012 11:59:14 PM
At this point I'm just letting it slide past and waiting for history to sort things out one way or the other. As the article and Tom pointed out, his rivals look at least as suspicious as he does (or more, in many cases).

I'm not sure about worse - it is worth remembering that while Armstrong has declined to dispute the evidence against him, Bruyneel and others are doing so on charges they face. Which shows the level his team allegedly were at - organised from the top man downwards in a doping programme designed to win Armstrong the tour.
Then that is combined with his treatment of people like Bassons and Simeoni.

And as Larry pointed out (or hinted at, anyway), one suspects the lifetime bans would rain down by the dozens if certain other sports started testing half as strictly as cycling does. If one adopts the "everyone in cycling is still taking doping" line, it seems fairly logical to assume the same thing about every sport in which as much or more money can be made, and where testing is far less stringent.

I agree on that - I do imagine most sports have seen what happened to cycling and have made the call to try to avoid catching to many people doping. It is always worth remembering that footballers and tennis players were supposedly also on the list of dopers from Operation Puerto but only cyclists got named.
