I think it makes sense in some cases but mostly it makes you feel like you are doing something random thoughts Send a noteboard - 11/09/2012 08:25:54 PM
I think it plays little to no role in how nutritious food is but it still makes sense to buy it sometimes. Freshness plays a greater role in nutrition than organic does. The amount of pesticides in your food is tiny but no one really knows how much can cause problems especially in children. My wife and I don't typically go out of our way looking for organic food for but we do with some food for my daughter. She eats a lot of apples so we buy those organic. She also eats a lot of bananas but since you throw the outside away we don't bother. Economics plays are role as well, we used to buy her organic milk but then they jacked the price up and she started drinking less so we don't bother.

My personal opinion is that it is mostly one of those feel good things that people can do to feel like they are being healthy without the hard work of actually trying to eat healthy and get exercise. Sort of like buying pink think during breast cancer awareness month and cookies from girl scouts in order to feel charitable without the bother of actually having to donate your time and deal with people with real problems. Sort of like putting a band aid on a bruise to make your kid stop crying. Doesn’t really hurt but it doesn’t really do a lot of good either.

I think organic food is a luxury that few will want as food prices increase in the coming decades. - 11/09/2012 10:11:33 PM 636 Views
