They made a mistake calling the play a touchdown, but they did NOT make a mistake with the replay. They aren't allowed to review who caught the ball and they definitely aren't allowed to intentionally break the rules to make up for an earlier mistake.
they intentionally make up rules or disregard them for non-crucial calls, i don't see what would make something like that any different in this situation honestly....
