so I'm afraid we'll have to make do with modern rehashings of the case rather than some more serious reporting of the original trial, as there surely must have been.

Though the LA Times site did at least help with explaining why it's happening now - apparently his laywers were trying to get the charges against him dismissed because the US hadn't done any attempts to have him extradited over all that time. That's kind of asking for it, of course...
