Thats' easy, there is simply no such thing as a 'hunting rifle'
Isaac Send a noteboard - 21/12/2012 11:17:41 PM
it was down to the confusion over "hunting rifle". Your reply seemed to think my premise was to ban semi-automatic weapons but protect every weapon used for hunting (which I agree would be completely impossible, I googled it earlier and saw pictures of people shooting deer with AK variants) when in fact my argument was that the distinction between conventional hunting rifles and semi-automatic weapons capabilities is a valid one to base legislature on, whether you agree with the legislature or not is another matter.
Narg was obviously on the same page as I was with my use of 'hunting rifles', so it looks to him like your reply was to an all-together different post. If you have a broader view of 'hunting rifles' then your reply makes perfect sense. I would add though, given the thread and general usage of the term, I feel my use of "hunting rifle" in that context was justified.
It's a 100% arbitrary term, nothing to do with the mechanics of firearms, and I say that as an expert gunsmith.
