I had a teacher who was fired only after she had a total mental breakdown--they did nothing after her several violent outbursts and threats to kill students.

In an ideal world, maybe. But this is the most sheltered, inane thinking I've seen in a long time.

I guess that is a kind of progress. ;) To the NRAs credit (and I never thought I would utter THAT phrase :P) they did not suggest arming teachers, only putting current/retired cops and military reservists at schools. It almost seems like they are grudgingly getting it: All the people they suggest putting at schools with guns would be screened, trained and certified to have guns, and I do not believe even Wayne LaPierre suggested they have concealed guns. That, of course, puts those demanding concealed guns for teachers to the right of the NRA. (8
