I also think you're using a very broad brush to make some very bold statements that would be difficult to really prove, though you're welcome to try if you'd like. I don't think individual religions are any more prone to rigid thinking than any other parallel organization, be it other religions or organizations like the Boy/Girl Scouts or the NFL or a government. Large groups that have been steadily functioning for a long time have an understandable tendency to favor the 'if it ain't broke' philosophy. Not all religions are large and old, and don't exhibit that quality, nor is it necessarily all that rigid, nor is that necessarily wrong.
