If you are going to follow the teachings, then follow the teachings. If you are not, then it does not matter what they are teaching. It is not the role of ANY religion (or any other organization) to teach people how to "safely" do something that the religion/organization tells them not to do. Trying to argue otherwise is mind-numbingly stupid.

It would be like trying to argue that PETA should hold classes on how to safely run a dog fighting ring...
