What you are not factoring into your though process is that most criminals feels the same way. HyogaRott Send a noteboard - 24/03/2013 12:56:04 PM

I am just as worried about guns with non criminals. When I see someone(a fine, upstanding citizen in nearly every case) in my store (where I work) carrying a gun I pray to god no one tries to rob my store then. All hell will break loose, and innocent people will get hurt. Whether the person robbing me will panic because he sees someone carrying or because the person carrying decides they should do something, it will be a terrifying situation. I am just as worried about Joe next door and Kathy down the street having a gun as I am about Julio on the corner. I think there is a large enough body of work to prove that Americans today, right now, should not be holding guns. I don't trust you all. Uncivilized louts!

If an individual walks into your store with the intention of robbing you, and sees that armed customer, the criminal will almost always go somewhere else. The one who does not, is the one that was going to kill you anyways. It is the same reason you were taught to make eye contact with every customer (I've been on the other side of that counter many times in my life).
