I was frowning at that part of the article, as well. Legolas Send a noteboard - 29/05/2014 09:42:53 PM

It's utterly bizarre how this author seemed to equate Barack and Michelle Obama, knowing that Michelle Obama is African-American and a descendant of slaves, whereas Barack has white American ancestors on his mother's side and Kenyans on his father's, and really is not African-American at all, at least not in the customary non-literal sense of the word. I mean, sure, tons of people seem to consider the president as African-American despite knowing full well what his ancestry and life story is, but from someone writing a thoughtful article on America's history with race and reparations, you'd expect better.

No objections to your post otherwise (except that that sketch really wasn't even funny, just a bunch of cliché stereotypes), but then as I've said in just about every post in this thread, I wasn't posting this in order to advocate reparations.

Maybe because there is a lack of connection between the history involved and present day problems. - 29/05/2014 01:35:04 AM 446 Views
